IPC Fundamentals for Care Staff
Simple skills. Safe residents. Every shift.
Care workers are with residents more than anyone else in aged care, which puts them at the heart of infection prevention every day. This practical online workshop gives care staff the skills and confidence to protect residents, protect themselves, and know exactly what to do on every shift.
Designed specifically for care workers and personal care workers in aged care, this plain-language, visual workshop covers hand hygiene using the WHO 5 Moments, when and how to use PPE (and when not to), recognising and reporting signs of infection, responding to diarrhoea and vomiting, sharps safety and what to do after an injury, sepsis warning signs, food safety, your role in an outbreak, and when to stay home if you're unwell.
Through practical examples and interactive activities, participants will learn how to spot changes in a resident's condition early, follow the right escalation pathway, and understand the difference between standard and additional precautions.
Participants will also receive practical resources to use back in the workplace, including a Hand Hygiene Fact Sheet, a Sepsis Prevention Poster, a Blood and Body Fluid Spill Poster, a Care Staff Induction Checklist, Quick Reference Cards, and Multilingual Fact Sheets. Captions are available for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) staff.
Give your care team the practical IPC skills and confidence to keep residents safe, every shift.
